Adopting a cat from Botany Cats

Who doesn’t need a little extra fuzz to love on? A visit to Botany Cats will give you the opportunity to cuddle and play with adoptable cats on board our renovated camper: Demeter. We can answer any questions you have about cat parenting in general, or about the cats and kittens themselves. Based on your lifestyle and personality during your visit, we can help guide you to the purrfect cat. Cats and kittens are provided by a series of locations such as animal control and cats in need of rehoming. They arrive to Botany Cats fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered, dewormed, given monthly flea prevention, and tested for common diseases such as feline leukemia, aids, rabies, distemper, etc.

What to know before adopting

  • When you adopt a cat you are adopting a family member. Cats require all the attention and care (both financial and time) you would give any other member of the family. Be prepared for a lifetime of cuddles as their lifespans are about 12-18 years.

  • Some pets are better with children than others. Think about your future plans! (We make it a point to have cats that do well with children at Botany Cats)

  • Prepare your home! Every new cat needs supplies, even in an established cat home. It is recommended to have one litter box per cat PLUS one extra. New toys, food/water bowls, and bedding is also a great idea to avoid previous cats getting territorial.

  • Current cat owners: have a plan for introducing your new addition to your current pets and human children. Your new cat is going through a lot of stressful changes. Slow introductions are going to work best for everyone involved. Click here > introducing cats < for more information.

Adoption Process

  1. Make an appointment to visit our available kitties. Every cat has a different purr-sonality. A meet and greet helps you and your potential fur baby decide if you’re a good fit!

  2. The next step is this adoption screening. Fill it out ahead of time to speed up adoption process.

  3. In 24 hours or less, look for an email about your approval and an outline of the next steps!
